Optos Daytona NG
Using Optomap technology, we can scan up to 200 degrees of the retina. Most traditional methods allow only a 45-degree view. This allows us to examine the health of your eyes in much more detail and detect and monitor many eye conditions at a much earlier stage. Early signs of disease can be present in the far-periphery of your retina, for instance, retinal tears, and may remain undetected for a long time when using traditional methods. Detecting these conditions early enables earlier intervention with a better chance of treatment success.
Samantha Hague Optometry is one of only a handful of practices in the region able to offer our patients direct access to this most amazing technology. Optomap wide-field retinal imaging is strongly recommended as part of your Eye Examination and is available in our Private and NHS Full Eye Examinations.
OCT – Nidek Retina Scan Duo
Conventional methods of eye examination only enable the optometrist to see what is happening on the surface of your retina, when a lot of conditions of the eye start at a much deeper level. The unique way the image is formed means that for the first time, we can actually see below the surface of the retina and view the microscopic layers beneath. This is of profound importance in determining the precise diagnosis of visual problems and in helping us guide patients on the treatment options possible.
Common conditions identified through regular OCT screening include age-related macular degeneration and drusen, glaucoma, diabetes, macula holes and vitreous detachments.
OCT is quick, safe, non-invasive and enables us to diagnose so many more eye problems at the earliest possible stage, in some instances up to 5 years earlier than would be possible otherwise enabling a much greater chance of early treatment and successful outcome. In many cases, early detection can even prevent a condition from developing at all, thus helping us to do our job, which is to help maintain your sight.
Samantha Hague Optometry is able to offer patients direct access to the most sophisticated eye examination available. 3D OCT retinal imaging is available as part of our Private and NHS Full Eye Examinations.
i-Care
Nidek RT-5100 Phoropter
The phoropter replaces the need for close contact eye testing. With removable eye shields, it is quick and easy to clean between patients and the lenses are concealed behind sealed units minimising contamination risk. The unit replaces the traditional trial frame which can often be heavy and cumbersome and enables a more accurate and fluid sight test with remote control lens changes or ease of comparison for the patient.
Oculus Easygraph Topographer
Corneal topography is a computer-assisted diagnostic tool that creates a three-dimensional map of the surface curvature of the cornea helping in the detection of irregular conditions invisible to most conventional testing. Corneal topography produces a detailed, visual description of the shape and power of the cornea providing your optometrist with very fine details of the condition of the corneal surface and measurements which can be used in the accurate fitting of contact lenses adding confidence and trust to all contact lens consultations.
Oculus Smartfield
The Oculus Smartfield is a compact visual field device purposefully optimised for monitoring functional impairment in glaucoma and performs standard automated perimetry of the central visual field and beyond. Despite its small size, the Smartfield perimeter offers a comprehensive clinical solution in visual field testing for any glaucoma practice. In addition, the control software offers a wide array of state-of-the-art measurement procedures for diagnostic and follow-up examinations.
Keeler Symphony Digital Slitlamp
The digital slitlamp enables our optometrist to assess both the front and the back of the eyes, microscopically examining your eyes for any abnormalities or problems. Our instrument allows us to photograph your eyes for education and monitoring purposes with a discrete integrated camera.
BlephEx™
BlephEx™ is a revolutionary patented handpiece, used to very precisely and carefully spin a medical-grade micro-sponge along the edge of your eyelids and lashes to remove scurf and debris and exfoliate your eyelids. BlephEx™ allows our optometrist to take an active role in treating blepharitis, reducing scurf and bacterial debris, the main causes of inflammatory lid disease improving the overall health of the eyelid helping our patients enjoy a life free from the chronic and irritating symptoms associated with blepharitis through regular BlephEx™treatments.
The BlephEx™ treatment is well tolerated and only takes a few minutes to perform.
